Do you always feel so lazy to actually look alright or presentable every single day? Or just not to look dead? Wishing you could just sleep with makeup and wake up with the makeup itself and you are ready to go? Have a really bad skill in putting on falsie? Well, ME TOO! If that is what you are looking for, your wish is granted! With eyelash extensions, that would save so much hassle! When I first heard of eyelash extension I really have zero idea how it can make a different. But the moment I started going for eyelash extension, it felt like I can never turn back. As beautiful as it seems, you should know more before committing to it so let’s get into it!

1. What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Can I just call it the saviour for us? Haha! Jokes aside. Unlike the classic one strip falsies that we always glue onto our lash line, eyelash extensions are applied by lash artist who gently glue the extensions onto your natural lashes. Eyelash extensions don’t come in a strip like falsies but they are customizable and it looks like they are part of your natural lashes.

2. Is Eyelash Extension Permanent?

As much I wish it can be permanent but NOPE, IT IS NOT. Eyelash extension is SEMI-PERMANENT. It will eventually fall off with your natural lashes as it grows.

3. How Long Can Eyelash Extension Last?

It all depends! The duration of how long it can last is all depending on proper aftercare (will get more into this later!) and also depending on the skill of your lash artist so I highly advise to go for a professional eyelash extension artist / beauty salon. Normally it can last up to 6 to 8 weeks depending on the volume of the eyelash extensions that you prefer. When it starts shedding, that means it’s time for you to make another appointment for a refill or have a new set done.

4. Do Eyelash Extensions Damage My Natural Lashes?

Eyelash extensions will NOT damage your natural eyelashes. The key to no damage of eyelash extensions is the application method. If the lashes are applied the right way, it will never break off or pull out your natural lashes. You should also be mindful to not pick or pull at your eyelash extensions as it will break your natural lashes too.

5. How Long Does The Application Takes?

It normally takes around 90min to 120min. Again, it all depends on the volume that you prefer. The more volume you are doing the longer it takes. So this is the moment for your beauty nap! Take a dive into the dream land and wake up to a beautiful pair of lashes!

6. What Style, Curls or Volume Should I Do?

This is one important thing to understand before choosing it for your lashes. You gotta know the style and curls to achieve the fluffy lashes you dream of! Let it be the well-known Kardashian lashes, is all possible with eyelash extensions but the downside is that it all depends on the length and strength of your own lashes.

The more volume your extensions is, the more weight you are putting onto your natural lashes.

7. It’s My First Time, Which One Do I Choose?

It is normal to feel lost and helpless for the first time on your first appointment or even before your appointment. (I’ve been through there so it’s totally normal!) Fret not! If you are worried on the style you choose doesn’t suit you, is best to go for the natural look for the first time. At the same time you will also understand better on your own lashes and slowly but surely know better what kind of curl, volume and style suit you more.

8. Is It Alright To Get The Extensions Wet?

The good news is, YES! YOU CAN GET THEM WET. Please do not be too worried about “How am I gonna wash my face after having eyelash extension?” or “Must I stop my workout routine just to avoid getting it wet?” As long as you make sure no water contact during the recommended 12-24 hours before you get them wet.

9. Can I Apply Makeup After Having Eyelash Extensions?

Another good news, YES YOU CAN! Eyelash extensions can be already so beautiful on its own but with makeup on, that is just another plus point. BUT, the most important thing is, since you already have your eyelash extension on, mascara and eyelash curler is a BIG NO-NO, please ditch your mascara (non-waterproof or waterproof mascara is a big NO). Do not use eyelash curler on your extensions because it will damage it.  Except for mascara and eyelash curler, go right ahead with your eye make up and work it gurl!

10. How Do I Maintain My Eyelash Extensions?

Maintenance is not as hard as you think it is! The maintenance for eyelash extensions is still doable so stop believing in those myths of how hard eyelash extensions maintenance is. Keep in mind that oil and cream (cream mostly contained oil and waxes that can break down lash glue) is the enemy to eyelash extensions.

So, say no to oil base makeup remover and switch it to water base makeup remover. Rather than rubbing it back and forth that will damage your eyelash extension, gently swipe downwards to keep your lids and lashes clean. No matter whatever you do, do not rub your eyes! Also, make sure your lashes is clean at all times to avoid bacterial growing at your lash line and will cause infection to the eyes. There is a special cleansing soap for eyelash extension (try asking your lash artist) and also remember to brush your lashes after each time you get it wet with a spoolie.
