Because we have these dazzling poses for you to copy. Through these lessons, you’d probably notice that symmetry isn’t exactly something we’re looking for. Putting legs side by side is neat but it’s not that interesting. Instead, spread out, get comfy and look as natural as possible! Note that there are just some casual guides. There is no fixed way to pose. It’s always great to keep an open mind and to try out new ideas! Now, join us as we explore the principles of what makes good amazing poses!

1. Spread Out

Take up space as much as your phone camera can cover while keeping yourself looking natural. Resting your arm on one leg up is a good idea. As for the other hand, spread it out a bit and take that space to your right. It’s all about maximizing space for a good shot!

2. Head Tilt and Leg Cross

Symmetry is not your best friend when it comes to a good pose. So, put your legs crossed, arms apart and head tilt. Position your body at an inclined angle. Not only it looks nice, it also beats the commonality of sitting nicely as the left pic.

3. Hair Touch and Angled Legs

The angled legs can be a bit fun to play around with. You have to put it angled and at the same time maintaining a good balance. It’s usually not a good idea to have your knees or feet pointed towards the camera.

4. Angled Arms and Angled Legs

It’s all about angles. Angle your arms to point out and your legs to the side. Remember to try not to point your knee towards the camera!

5. Look Away

Looking at the camera is probably fine if you’re going for a face close portrait shot. But when you’re posing, looking away is usually the best. Direct eye contact towards the camera as you’re taking a pose that is uncommon would make it a little bit weird. So, look away!

6. Show Your Side

This is the exact emphasis of not pointing your feet towards the camera. Always show your side, angle it and take up more space. It’s much more interesting to look at. However, depending on how you position your body, pointing your feet towards the camera might work well too!

7. Looking To The Light

Face the light source for the best lighting before pressing that camera button. Tilt the head and adjust accordingly for the best face lighting.

8. Right Angles

Play around with body angles. Taking unusual poses is always a key to aim for but it should not make yourself look awkward or weird. While this pose seemingly hid her right arm, it’s undoubtedly the best that one can do when you are keen on showing only the side of your shoulder.

9. Don’t Hide Your Legs

Show your every limb. Put your hands far out and take more space for the shot. As for the legs, don’t hide it behind the other leg. Angle it so it’s showing both of them in a natural way. Always strive to do something different with your limbs and head as natural as possible. The head tilt is always a good choice!

10. Avoid Symmetry

Symmetry don’t always translate to beauty. Sometimes, it is best to have a variety of action for each of your limbs. That angled hand posing the head, that arm resting on your thigh, the retracted left leg and extended other all gives a different point of focus that contributes to a good pose.

11. Make A Motion

Sitting with crossed leg is a common thing to do. There’s probably nothing creative you can go around with the leg part. But, you can always move around with your arms or play with your hair. Make an action! This girl is pretending as if she is holding her hair. Her body is slightly facing away from the camera. It’s as if she is looking at something. This form makes her look natural and hence is what makes a good pose too.

12. Show Your Face

Every angle has a way of making the shot look good. Even this casual sitting by the beach pose has its posing ways to make it look gorgeous. The hands are placed as natural as possible. Because the shot is taken from the back, the model needs to turn her head a bit so her face is captured in the shot.

13. Never Point Your Elbow To The Camera

14. Stretch Your Legs Out One Over The Other

When you’re sitting, you probably notice that you always look good with one legs at the front of the other. In this case, the leg further from the camera is extended out. It’s showing your other leg which could have been covered up by the left leg which is closer to the camera.

15. Align The Head With Your Back

The model on the right looks more natural and comfy as the head is aligned with the backbone. The leg is spread out which is probably the most one can do in this squatting position without compromising stability. Then, the arms are displaying a variety of action. Face touch is a classic move and is a definite must-do to avoid having your hands looking awkward. The model chose to put her hands at her back which creates another element of uncommonness that makes the pose unique.

16. Stair Pose

It’s necessary to put your surrounding to work with you for the best pose. On this narrow stairs, the model put her hands on both side of the stair rail and wall. That covered the spreading out principle of a good pose. Then, the legs needs to be crossed so both of them are showing. Look towards the light for a good lighting shot. There you go!

17. Don’t Point Towards Camera

Whether it’s your elbow or your feet, pointing towards the camera is not always recommended. That’s because such a pose will usually make yourself look small and narrow. The idea is to take up space. So, spread out! That chin touch by that arm is just perfect so it doesn’t obstruct the view of the other hand should the right hand is used instead. On the right photo, she is also facing towards the light which is an essential point for a good pose! Remember to take these as guides. There are exceptions where pointing the leg towards the camera would look perfectly nice when you have a background that serves as guidelines that leads to you at the centre.

18. Leg Cross

Always cross your legs whenever possible. It’s always like the most perfect form that your legs can take for a good pose. Of course, there are other exceptions. Putting the legs side by side or taking a symmetry position is usually not recommended. So, take note girls!

19. Placing Hand On Head

The crossed legs are just perfect. The arm placement on the lap is just nice. But, what do you do with the other hand? The chin touch here don’t work exactly that well because it looks a bit cramp. It needs to be spread out a bit and at the same time making yourself look natural and comfortable. So, place it on your head! Touch the back of your head with it! It’s one of the most common way to be doing something with your other hand without making it look awkward.

20. Look Relaxed

This pose is just nice as it exudes a feeling of relaxation without much exaggeration. The leg goes one to the front and the other to slightly at the back. Both hands are placed on something and appear relaxed. That is totally fine as one is resting on your lap with the other on the table. You can also try out a variety of this pose with head tilts and looking away! Remember to have some fun!

21. Sitting On The Side

Lean towards one side! Sitting normally can look boring and limits the pose you can be making. Sitting on the side would look great when you cross those legs. It might be best if she cross her legs more so that it doesn’t hide the leg behind it. In this pose, she is leaning her body onto her right hand, channeling the body weight to it. This allows her to assume a slanted pose which looks way much attractive to the eye. Try out this pose and get creative with the left hand and head positions! It’s a good pose to master considering that there are a lot of travel locations that has epic stairs which make perfect photography spots!

22. Lean Back

It’s almost natural that most of us would sit as the pic to the left. One thing about posing is that we should always strike a pose that is far away from the common yet still preserve the natural feel to it. So, lean back with one supporting hand. Put up one of your knee and rest your arm there. It’s almost inevitable that the other leg have to be slightly covered unless the camera man choose to take the shot from another angle.

23. The Under Thigh

Sometimes, crossing the legs may not be the right pose to take when you’re sitting on the bench. That’s when it’s best to make an action pose. Sit with one of your legs under your thigh. It’s a natural sitting pose that I’m sure some of us are familiar with. Then, go with the usual head touch and the resting arm. There’s no wrong way to look at as long as your face is visible to the camera. Now, put on a smile!
